FAQ's
What kind of information can I find?
Virtually anything you can see by going outside and taking a look yourself,
and more. Street Locus stores its information in “layers”, so you
can view data from numerous perspectives, and in different ways. For
example, need to find speed limits? Street Locus tells you! Just
pull up the speed layer. We can even tell you if there’s a school
nearby (remember, schools = lower daytime speed limits).

Perhaps you’re an
attorney on a severe injury case, and you need to know where the
closest hospital was to your client. Or perhaps you need
demographics, such as income and population. No problem with Street Locus,
where information is just a few clicks away.

What areas do you cover?
Maps and data are
available country wide. Media, such as pictures and video are
available in the Massachusetts area only. Additional areas are forthcoming;
check this web site for updates and program details.
Why use a map based system?
Sometimes
photographs aren’t enough. In today’s litigious society, you need
access to information that may not be present in simple photographs.
Claims personnel
know that the events leading up to an accident are just as important
as the accident itself. It’s this critical ability to see events
unfold that separates Street Locus from traditional traffic
intersection investigations. Using Street Locus’ location based
technology you can trace the path of all parties leading up to an
accident. Street Locus not only allows you to identify landmarks and
points of interest, but jump-ins (people who were not in an auto
accident but claimed to be), new areas of investigation, and
potential joint tort feasors.
What if I don't receive a password
to try the demo after I submit all the required information?
Your company may be blocking or
filtering e-mail. Click
here to send us an email with your complete telephone
number, and we will call you with your password.
What if nothing happens after I
type in my user ID and password?
Your pop-up blocker may be
preventing the map from appearing in a new window. Make sure you
have any pop-up blockers temporarily disabled.

What should I do if I cannot see a picture/map?
Make sure you
have the most current version of Internet Explorer/Netscape
installed. You should also have java enabled on your browser. Make
sure any pop-up blockers have been disabled.
What if there is no picture
for the intersection/site that I wish to see?
Remember,
Street Locus is more than just pretty pictures. Our maps provide a wealth of
visual information and feature rich data. However, if you need a picture of
a site or intersection, we will provide it within 48 hours. Call for details!
What type of connection do I
need?
Street Locus is
best viewed using a high speed connection, such as DSL, cable, or T1
line. It’s possible to view using a dial up connection through your
internet provider; however some features may appear to move or load
slowly and you will not be able to view video.
How do I make a layer/label appear
or disappear on the map?
Click in the box
next to the label you want to appear. Remove the check if you want
it to disappear. Then click on the "refresh map" button to update your screen.
My company
does not do locus investigations. Why should we sign up?
Well, there are a
lot of reasons:
The first is that
if you are not conducting locus investigations, then you are
possibly losing money. As policyholders become increasingly claims
savvy, they learn to describe claim incidents in the best possible
light. After all, you may be holding on to a large deductible or
basing a limited coverage decision on what they tell you.
Second, we
provide more than pictures. Many users find the maps, household
data, and street information invaluable towards their claims
investigation.
Third, there’s no
risk. You must be completely satisfied. We offer a no obligation,
try before you buy, limited free trial (Massachusetts)
Fourth, it’s fun.
We take out the monotony that can be inherent in routine claim
investigations. Your adjusters are happier and more productive. And
we’re perfectly content in letting you take all the credit when your
bottom line improves.
Can I print pictures?
Of course! You
can print out any map or picture, all we ask is that you include
“Copyright Street Locus– all rights reserved” on any photograph.
A color printer
is helpful, but not necessary, and you can request hardcopy from us
for a nominal fee.
